Far, Far Away
A nostalgic virtual reality experience of a land far, far away
Far, Far Away is a VR meditative experience exploring feelings of alienation, intrusion, and distance. The work draws from Lithuanian heritage - specifically Vilnius and Neringa regions - and incorporates Eastern European symbolism and iconography into a dreamlike world.
Created in collaboration with Alena Evstafyeva, the experience was developed in response to the Ukraine conflict. Viewer agency is intentionally constrained: you can look, but you cannot fully control. The world is observed more than navigated.
3D assets were built in Blender, Maya, and ZBrush, with surface materials created in Adobe Substance Painter. Environmental elements like trees and foliage were generated using SpeedTree.
